Penstemon lyallii - Lyall Beardtongue. This Penstemon, also commonly known as Lyall’s Penstemon, is a native to Idaho and Montana and is a member of the Figwort family. It is also referred to as a subshrub. It is a clump-forming, compact, and upright plant with many branching stems sprouting from a thick root stalk. On top of the stems, thin smooth green leaves give way to numerous blooms of tubular, two-lipped flowers that appear to be somewhat smashed. This is a hardy perennial with a long bloom time showing off its fancy flowers in rich colors of rose, lavender, and mauve, from late spring to midsummer. This particular Penstemon is said to be one of the uncommon ones of its species. It isa self-sower, easy to maintain, and nicely tolerant to different soils and conditions, however, it isn’t happy in the shade. These flowers will attract numerous pollinators to your gardens such as Hummingbirds, Butterflies, and Bees while being resistant to Deer and Rabbits. These do well in rock gardens. Another great feature of this plant is that it is easy to grow making it great for the beginning gardener! You don’t want to miss out on this plant find, it will surely add a nice flare to your garden!

I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
