Poppy Papaver – Maanzaad also known as the best bread seed Poppy, boasts single white flowers with pink markings. Maanzaad means poppy seed in Dutch. They can be grown in either full sun or light shade in well-draining soil, have a blooming season that lasts from June to September, and will grow up to 35 inches tall. These flowers will attract pollinators to your gardens such as butterflies and bees while being resistant to deer and rabbits. After flowering, it’s nice because the seed heads will hold onto the seeds, rather than allowing the seeds to scatter making collection easier. Homegrown seed is ideal for use as a topping for bread, or it can also be used in curries, salads, and other Asian dishes. Please do your own research and/or consult with a physician first before consuming any plant or part of a plant. These make great cut flowers, look great in dried floral arrangements, and are beautiful in beds, and en-masse in borders. Don’t miss out on this flower seed find, they will give you great flowers, seed pods, and seeds you can eat!

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
