Potentilla Nepalensis - Helen Jane. aka: Gibson’s Scarlet. This is an herbaceous perennial that is a compact, cushion forming, shrub-like, evergreen with pleated leaves. A member of the rose family, it presents with saucer shaped flowers of bright pink magenta blooms. The flowers have crepe paper-like petals that bloom in succession from May to late July. The woody stems make them a tough plant that seems contrary to the delicate papery flowers. They are easy to care for and are pest and disease free. They are excellent filler plants for size and color and are first year bloomers. When flowers are cut back right after blooming, you will likely have a second round of flowers to enjoy. Once established they are drought tolerant and long lived, dividing every 3 years in spring. Popularly used in beds, ground cover, borders, perennial gardens, rock gardens, cottage gardens, informal gardens, city gardens and raised beds.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike! There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!
